Avelo Airlines, the low-cost carrier operating from Concord-Padgett Airport, is making a significant expansion into Florida markets. According to WCNC Charlotte, the airline will debut three new nonstop routes connecting the Concord region to Fort Myers, Orlando, and Tampa beginning in November. The move reinforces Concord-Padgett's position as a growing hub for regional air service and reflects increasing demand for affordable travel options from the Charlotte area.
The three new Florida routes address a key gap in the regional travel landscape, offering direct flights that typically require connections through larger airports like Charlotte Douglas International. By operating from Concord-Padgett, Avelo provides Charlotte-area residents and businesses with convenient, cost-effective alternatives for leisure and business travel to Florida's major markets. This expansion demonstrates the viability of secondary airports in serving regional transportation needs.
For Charlotte-area business travelers and leisure visitors, the new routes represent expanded flexibility and potential cost savings on frequent Florida travel. The expansion also supports Concord-Padgett's ongoing development as a meaningful alternative to CLT for certain routes, which could benefit the local economy through increased airport activity and employment. These routes align with Avelo's broader strategy of building point-to-point service from underutilized regional airports.
